WhiteCoat's Doctor Portal, serves as a centralized hub for healthcare professionals, offering a suite of tools and features that facilitate various aspects of patient care and clinic management. Inspired by the idea of providing a "clinic-like experience from your desk", this portal empowers doctors to focus on care, not clicks.

Understanding the current issue

The current WhiteCoat Doctor Portal does not meet government-mandated health record integration standards, suffers from performance lags, and restricts doctors from issuing MCs and referral letters during the consult—resulting in fragmented workflows and a frustrating user experience.

Find Extensive Features Complicating

The team was tasked with upgrading the Doctor Portal to support public sector integration and streamline in-consult workflows. However, during stakeholder interviews, doctors expressed frustration over system lag and fragmented information. Further validation came from internal surveys, which showed that 60% of users found it difficult to complete essential tasks—such as issuing MCs and referral letters—within the consult flow, highlighting the need for a more responsive and intuitive experience.

Design solutions

I redesigned the Doctor Portal with a unified consultation dashboard, enabled in-call issuance of MCs and referrals, improved system performance, introduced NEHR-ready data structures, and added contextual prompts to streamline workflows and enhance the overall consult experience.

Kicking off with research

I wanted to understand how people are using a smart home app today. What are their experience and collect all data i can to help inform my design decision.

User interview

I conducted interviews with friends and family, given the absence of a dedicated user group, to gather insights into their experiences with smart home apps.

Market research

I conducted a competitive analysis to gain insights into the smart home app landscape, aiming to learn from from existing products. This analysis helped to identify potentially advantageous features for our own app development.

Features that user needs

A prioritisation list of features based on user research that we will be working on. Important features like: Pairing of devices, controls, automations and data insights to understand ur pattern usage etc.

Features that is good to have

Without a centralised design system, collaboration suffered, causing frequent miscommunications and impacting design implementation efficiency and quality.

Gaining awareness is importance to allow people to know about the brand. The app received extensive coverage on online social media platforms

User-centered design

User-centered design

I learnt to demonstrate ability to prioritise user needs and preferences by creating an intuitive and user-friendly interface for controlling smart devices in a home environment. Especially when the organization is still in the early stage of growth where they have yet to see the value of having a dedicated research team so at times, the team moves forward without having to validate hypotheses or test usability issues.
